Ah yes, 'State of Emergency'
Governor Sunny Perdue Has declared a 'State of Emergency' in Georgia. What does this mean? Not Shit.
Well I guess it does. It means they are NOW going to make you pay a Fine if you break the Water Laws. Thats about it from a consumers point of view. For someone who watched this in the making it means, Hurricane Katrina X5. That's conservative considering a population of 5 Million is whats at stake here. Perdue Declares an Emergency and Requests Presidential Intervention. In his letter to President Bush, he outlines steps that the state has taken to minimize the impact of the drought, and emphasizes the increasingly severe threat to Georgia businesses, industry, economic stability and the health and safety of Georgia citizens.
The report mentions all the regular/normal agencies being activated,[this isn't good] and a NEW one created just for this. Perdue’s executive order creates an advisory panel of agencies with expertise in disaster planning. The panel, called the Drought Response Unified Command group, includes the Environmental Protection Division (EPD), Georgia Emergency Management Agency(GEMA), the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority (GEFA) and the Division of Public Health.
I knew it was only a matter of time. I took pictures and watched the lake across the street drop two and half feet[2.5 ft.] over the last year. The stream that it use to create with it's runoff/spillover that runs through the backyard, has been DRY for the past year.

The images that follow are of Lake Sydney Lanier and Lake Allatoona. Lake Sydney Lanier supplies water for Atlanta,Ga. and further down for Columbus by way of the Chattahoochee River.
