Tropical Storm #Sandy soon to be a Hurricane & #Tony

Tropical Storm Sandy is anticipated to become a hurricane by the time she reaches Jamaica and Cuba today.

Sandy has strengthened overnight as she heads northward toward Jamaica. Currently Sandy has winds of 70 mph, is moving North at 14 mph and is 120 miles South of Kingston Jamaica and 295 miles South-southwest of Guantanamo Cuba at 16.3North 77.0West with a central pressure of 986 mb or 29.12 inches. The northward motion is expected to continue over the coming days with an increase in forward speed and strength as well. The center is anticipated to move across Jamaica late this afternoon and evening and be near or over eastern Cuba late tonight and Thursday morning and approaching the Central Bahamas sometime Thursday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles from the center of Sandy at this time and tropical storm force winds are expected to be felt in Jamaica this morning with hurricane conditions this afternoon. Hurricane conditions are also possible in eastern Cuba this evening as well. Check back for updates on the forecast track of Sandy. Watches and Warnings with Sandy..

* 'Hurricane Warning' in effect for Jamaica and Cuban Provinces including Camaguey, LAs Tunas, Granma, Santiago De Cuba, Holguin and Guantanamo.

* 'Tropical Storm Warning' in effect for Hati, the Central Bahamas including Cat Island, The Exumas, Long Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador.

* 'Tropical Storm Watch' in effect for the Southeastern and Northwestern Bahamas, the Florida east coast from Jupiter Inlet South and to Ocean Reef, and the Florida Upper Keys from Ocean Reef Southward to Craig Key including Florida Bay.

- Interest in southern and central Florida should continue to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Sandy in the coming days.

Tony is the 19th named storm of the 2012 hurricane season. Tropical Storm Tony currently has winds of 45 mph, is moving to the east-northeast at 16 mph and is 1415 miles west-southwest of the Azores at 27.4North 47.9West with a central pressure of 1003 mb or 29.62 inches. Tony is not a threat at this time to 'any' landmass and is expected to continue toward the east-northeast with an increase in forward speed during the next 48 hours.

#Nadine becomes a Hurricane, 8th of the 2012 Atlantic Season

Nadine will have no impact on the US mainland, still bears keeping an eye on her. Currently positioned at 30.0 North 52.8 West or about 725 miles east of Bermuda with maximum winds of 75 mph and a central pressure of 985 MB, Nadine is now moving North-Northeast at 14 mph. In the coming day Nadine is expected to turn toward the northeast and see a slight decrease in forward speed followed by an increase in forward speed and a turn more easterly Saturday night early Sunday morning.

I'll be keeping an eye on an area of disorganized convection in the Caribbean located about 900 miles east of the Windward Islands in the coming days. At this time it has a 10% chance of further developing and conditions do not look favorable at this time.

Tropical Storm #Leslie has formed in the Atlantic- August 30 2012

Tropical Storm Leslie currently [2:00 pm EDT] has winds of 40 mph and will likely become a Hurricane in the next 48 hours. Much Uncertainty remains in the track of this system due to influence of Hurricane Kirk and the subtropical ridge to it's west. This storm will need to be watched closely in the coming days for possible impact to the U.S. east coast.

Tropical Storm #Isaac, Hurricane #Kirk, Tropical Depression Twelve [#TD12] - August 30 2012

Tropical Storm Isaac currently [11:00 am EDT] has winds of 40 mph and is expected to become a Depression sometime today. If not he will likely be downgraded sometime tomorrow August 31. Isaac continues to dump heavy rain over Mississippi at this time. Radar estimates are showing upwards of 15 inches in some areas. The current forecast track remains much unchanged and Isaac is expected to continue Northward being steered by the western edge of a subtropical ridge that is in the southeastern U.S. for the next day or so. After, Isaac is expected to turn northeast and then east and will then be post tropical or a remnant low.

Hurricane Kirk currently [11:00 am EDT] has winds of 75 mph is likely to remain out to sea and poss no risk at this time to the U.S. mainland. Forecast over the next few days show Kirk strengthening but still remaining a category 1 hurricane. I'll keep an eye on him just in case.
